Silaï Rug
Designed by Charlotte Lancelot for GAN
Made in India
Inspired by the embroidery technique petit point, Charlotte Lancelot has created Silaï, a contemporary collection that aims to rediscover traditional stitching techniques. Silaï contains tile-like patterns, achieved through four different stitch lengths. This technique generates squares, triangles, diamonds, hexagons, octagons, and crosses which, when combined, are reminiscent of the mismatched floors that can still be found in old houses.
- Two rectangular sizes
- Four colorways
SILAI-RUG
Reinterpreting Embroidery
Hand-embroidered by artisans, Silaï reimagines the delicate petit-point embroidery technique on a much larger scale. Using thick strands of 100% virgin wool, patterns are artfully combined to create a contemporary piece that delights the eye.
Overview
Silaï Rug by Charlotte Lancelot for GAN reinterprets the basic foundations of petit point embroidery through a very specific review of this technique, applied both to the types of stitches and to the scale and thickness of the threads. The attractive patterns of the rugs, poufs, and cushions that make up the series are based on just four stitch variations, hand-embroidered by Indian artisans with 100% virgin wool yarns on a PVC grid.
