A SUBTLE ALCHEMY
With the Synapse Small Pendant Light, Gabriel Hendifar floats an aged brass orb between two matte-finished translucent glass hemispheres in a triangular frame. The result—a seemingly magical process of transformation and creation.
Inspired by the mechanics of neural synapses, Synapse Small Pendant Light by Gabriel Hendifar for Apparatus is composed of two hand-molded glass domes that require a 4-part firing process. A brass orb floats in transit between the two hemispheres.

Founded in 2012, Apparatus creates bespoke furnishings and lighting that revolt against the corporatization of design. The company’s distinctive catalog is created with sensual materials like marble, suede, horsehair, lacquer, and porcelain combined with patinated brass. Embracing a tradition of studio craftsmanship, each piece is hand-finished and assembled in New York.
