Tom Dixon was founded in 2002 in London with the lofty goal of reviving the British furniture industry. In the past two decades, the company has established itself as a luxury design brand specializing in furniture, lighting, and accessories. Today, Tom Dixon is represented in 90 countries with hubs in London, Milan, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, and Hangzhou.
With an aesthetic that is intrinsically inspired by the brand’s British roots, Tom Dixon products are internationally recognized and appreciated for their pioneering use of materials and techniques. The company is particularly fascinated with copper, the semi-precious metal that has led to many of the most recognizable lighting and accessory designs in the collection.
Tom Dixon was among the first to use the industrial process of vacuum metallization to create lighting. Primarily used in the manufacture of auto parts, insulation, food packaging, and so forth, vacuum metallization involves vaporizing a thin layer of pure metal at a very high temperature and then sucking it onto a plastic surface by applying an electrical charge. This innovative technique is best on display in the following product families: Mirror Ball, Copper, and Melt.

Tom Dixon Designer
Founder and eponymous creative director Tom Dixon is an innovator who rose to prominence in the 1980s and 90s as a maverick, untrained designer with a line in welded salvage furniture. It was during this period that he began collaborating with Italian giant Cappellini, for which he designed the widely acclaimed ‘S’ Chair.
In the late 1990s, Dixon became creative director at Habitat. He rejuvenated the brand while maintaining Terence Conran’s vision of enriching everyday life through simple, modern design. Today, Dixon is one of the industry’s most feted British designers heralded as a significantly original talent.
