Studio Como and leading Italian furniture maker Cassina have a long history together—and a bright future.
Founded and still operating in the Brianza region of Meda, Italy, Cassina was the first furniture line Studio Como began to carry when transitioning from a kitchen design company to offering full home furnishings. After a brief hiatus, Studio Como welcomes Cassina back to the catalog this spring. To celebrate the next chapter of partnership, Studio Como is building a dedicated Cassina wing inside the flagship Denver showroom, where passionate design professionals can consult clients on all Cassina has to offer.
“We believe Cassina is a strong value addition to our offering,” says Studio Como design director Laura Folgoni. “We are always committed to our partners’ success in the Rocky Mountain region, and we know our collaboration will continue to strengthen in the future.”
Cassina began as a family-run workshop in 1927, and in the 1950s became a trailblazer in modern furniture, credited with launching industrial design in post-war Italy. Cassina helped define modernist interiors through collaborations with some of the most influential designers of the 20th century, including Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand. Nearing their 100th anniversary, the company continues to bridge industrial production with an artisanal approach, ensuring that even mass-produced pieces retain a sense of artistry. It is this focused fusion of aesthetic edge and technological innovation that Studio Como continues to champion, year after year.
Alongside familiar bestsellers, Studio Como is introducing several new pieces to the Cassina inventory.
Patricia Urquiola’s Sengu Bold Sofa is an evolution of her earlier Sengu design, with an even more pronounced and inviting sculptural form. Its rounded, voluminous form makes it an ideal statement piece for a modern interior. Available in a wide range of fabrics and leathers, the sofa sits on a wood base that is completely hidden by the upholstered cushioning, which is filled with recycled PET fiber developed by Cassina LAB.
The Bio-mbo Bed, also by Patricia Urquiola, forefronts wellness in its visually appealing design. The uniquely upholstered king-size frame—available in wall-mount or freestanding versions—is equipped with zero-emission air purification and sound-absorbing technologies, meaning the bedroom feels as good as it looks. In addition to the wellness advantages, the Bio-mbo has built-in storage pockets with leather handles.
The Compasso d’Oro award-winning Maralunga Sofa, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1973, is back, and bigger than ever. The three-seater Maralunga 40 Maxi provides ten feet of lounge space, with its iconic backrest cushions adjustable to various angles thanks to an ingenious device made from a simple bicycle chain. The sofa and armchair are available with removable fabric covers in a wide range of colors and upholstery types.
Two Cassina chairs are also new to Studio Como’s line: the P22 Armchair (and accompanying ottoman) and the Doron Hotel Armchair. A modern take on the traditional wingback chair, the P22 Armchair is made without any internal metal joints, and has a tall backrest that envelopes the body in its high-craft form. Designed for one of the first chalet-style hotels in France, Charlotte Perriand’s 1947 Doron Hotel Armchairs express the designer’s steadfast commitment to furniture design that integrates with the natural environment—a perfect fit in Studio Como’s Rocky Mountain regions.
