Pierre Jeanneret, Designer
Born in Geneva in 1896, Pierre Jeanneret was a forward-thinking modernist who spent much of his career working in collaboration with his cousin, Le Corbusier. For over 20 years, they designed architectural spaces and furniture pieces together. One of their largest collaborations—urban planning and architecture for the city of Chandigarh, India.
Overview
Capitol Complex Dining Chair by Pierre Jeanneret is a Cassina reissue of the classic chair that was designed for the Chandigarh Capitol Complex designed by architect Le Corbusier in 1951.
This chair is one of the most recognizable in the Complex, found throughout the offices of the Secretariat. The independent pieces, including the legs in an inverted “V”, are all made of solid wood. The woven backrest and seat, stretched across a wooden frame, are elements common in the area.
The floor model set includes four dining side chairs in black-stained oak with woven Viennese cane. Two dining arm chairs and a 106″ dining table are also available, sold separately.
