Tress Grande Floor Lamp

Tress Grande Floor Lamp by Marc Sadler for Foscarini transforms industrial materials into sculptural illumination. First introduced in 2008, this Italian-made floor lamp has already achieved icon status through its innovative construction technique and dramatic visual presence. Fibreglass tape interwoven with resin wraps around a form like ribbon, creating an extraordinary interplay of shapes, lights, and shadows that project into the surrounding space.

The lamp’s structure is produced through an automated process that models composite tape along a precision mould, controlling the pitch and pattern with exacting consistency. Once formed, the entire structure receives an epoxy powder coating in white—a finish that enhances rather than obscures the rhythmic banding visible within the material itself. The result is a lamp that appears both organic and engineered, with a basket-like texture that filters light in endlessly varied patterns depending on your viewing angle.

The Grande version distinguishes itself with dual light sources designed for maximum versatility. An upper light at the diffuser’s tip provides ambient illumination that bounces off ceilings and walls, while a second source positioned inside the base delivers direct downlight for reading or tasks. An integrated dimmer on the transparent cord controls both sources—gradually adjusting the upper light’s intensity while providing simple on/off functionality for the lower beam.
